Currently, the concept of life-long learning has been brought into most teachers’ focus. According to a latest survey, conducted by an educational institution, about 80% teachers are keen on pursuing life-long learning in their teaching career. Why do so numerous teachers put an emphasis on life-long learning?

The reason accounting for this lies in the following aspects: First and foremost, it is universally acknowledged that the ever changing society require everyone to keep up with its progress, let alone teachers. If a teacher fails to absorb new knowledge through learning, he or she is bound to be kicked out.

In addition, teachers are commonly defined as the knowledge imparter and problem solver. Only through life-long learning can teachers cater to students' continuous thirst for advanced knowledge and skills.

In the final, the capacity of life-long learning is an indispensable professional competence of a qualified teacher. It is mentioned in the English Curriculum Standard that a teacher should keep an close eye on the newest teaching theories and enhance their teaching abilities continuously.

From my viewpoint, under no circumstance can our teachers abandon life-long learning. To be a qualified teacher, we should spare no efforts to keep learning the advanced teaching approaches to meet diversified students' needs and surpass ourselves.
